More detail was never going to fix it.
Miss Cranky here is drowning in details. And the more she tries to organize them, the more there seem to be.
You know the feeling. You’re trying to explain something, or plan something, or prepare for something, and instead of the details coming together into a clear picture, they keep multiplying. Every answer generates two more questions. Every clarification reveals something else that needs clarifying. And the thing that was supposed to be getting clearer is somehow getting more complicated.
This is overanalysis. And it has a particular quality for the She Sees the Details energy that’s worth understanding.
It is not that the details are wrong. They’re usually right. It’s that the organizing principle underneath them hasn’t shown up yet. And instead of waiting for it, Cranky Pants keeps adding more detail, as if enough detail will eventually produce the clarity that’s supposed to come from somewhere else entirely.
Oof, I feel this one. When I’m in this cranky energy, I add more and more and more details, to the point where I don’t know what to do with all the details because there’s no organizational structure to support them. It’s a terrible feeling. I used to do this a lot when I was prepping to teach a class I wasn’t super confident about. As if more details was going to increase my confidence.
Side note: it didn’t.
There’s also the over-preparation version of Miss Cranky Pants in She Sees the Details. This one can’t move forward until every possible thing has been accounted for. Every obstacle identified. Every contingency planned for. The plan must be perfect before anything can start. And because no plan is ever perfect, nothing starts.
This version of the cranky energy isn’t one I typically suffer through, but I’ve got friends who do, for sure. It’s almost like their efforts to prepare for every single thing freezes them and keeps them from getting going.
That’s the Cranky Pants energy in She Sees the Details. Letting the fear of not being ready keep her trapped. Letting the plan override the flow. Letting the pursuit of clarity become the thing that prevents it.
And then there’s the vague version, which might seem like the opposite, but comes from the same place. So overwhelmed by the details that nothing comes out at all. Asked to explain something, and the words just won’t organize themselves. Too much information with no clear way through it.
Same energy underneath. Just a different response on the surface.
Here’s the question that helps you know when you’re in Cranky Pants territory: *Am I adding more detail because it’s needed, or because I am avoiding the discomfort of moving forward without certainty?*
Only you know the honest answer.
Find your happy. Love what you do. Make a difference. Come back to me safely. See ya!
