She Starts Things: In Everyday Life

You may be the spark. Not the whole fire.

You may be the spark. Not the whole fire.

In our last chat, we met Miss Cranky Pants in the She Starts Things energy. The guilt, the unfinished trail of projects, the fear of beginning again. Today, we talk about what this energy looks like when it’s working.

The first thing to make peace with, if you carry this energy and have consistent access to it, is this:

Beginning and completing are two different skills. And not everyone is designed for both.

The She Starts Things energy is wired for the beginning. For the spark. For the ignition. For the moment when something goes from not existing to existing. For the initial surge of energy that gets something off the ground and into motion. That is a real and valuable thing. Without people who can do this, a lot of things that needed to exist in the world simply wouldn’t.

The completing is a different skill. And some people are brilliantly designed for it. The ones who can take something in the messy middle and see it through to done. Those people need the She Starts Things energy just as much as the She Starts Things person needs those with the finishing energy.

In everyday life, this looks like being intentional about which things you begin and who you bring alongside you to carry them forward. Not every beginning needs to be completed by the same person who started it. Recognizing that you may be the spark, but not the whole fire, is one of the most freeing things the She Starts Things energy person can do for herself.

I know a woman who runs strong in this energy. She has started more things than most people attempt in a lifetime. Businesses, projects, creative endeavors, community initiatives. And she learned something that was a total game changer. She stopped trying to finish everything herself and started asking who’s the right person to carry this forward once I’ve gotten it off the ground. That one shift turned her natural starting energy from a source of guilt into a true superpower.

In everyday life, this energy also looks like honoring the timing of beginnings. She Starts Things can feel the pressure to begin things before they’re ready. Before the conditions are right. Before the foundation is solid enough to support what wants to be built. And when that happens, the beginning collapses early and the trail of unfinished things gets a little longer. Hello, Cranky Pants!

The practice is to pause at the edge of a new beginning and check in.

Is this the right thing to start? Is this the right time? Do I have what I need to get this off the ground in a way that sets it up to grow and flourish?

That’s not hesitation. That’s She Starts Things energy used with intention.

In our next chat, we talk about what this energy looks like at its absolute fullest expression. The Opportunity Expander. Your best self in this energy. She is something to see.

I wouldn’t miss it. I hope you don’t!

Find your happy. Love what you do. Make a difference. Come back to me safely. See ya!
