She Starts Things in the Miss Cranky Pants Energy

The guilt about unfinished things is heavier than the excitement of what's next.

The guilt about unfinished things is heavier than the excitement of what’s next.

In our last chat, we met She Starts Things and talked about what this energy is really about. Today, we meet the Miss Cranky Pants side.

Miss Cranky here is looking at a list of unfinished things and feeling terrible about every single one of them.

The half-read books. The courses purchased, and barely touched. The projects that started with such genuine enthusiasm and somewhere in the messy middle just stopped. The relationships that began with so much possibility and somehow never reached what was promised.

This is Instability. And it comes with a very particular flavor of guilt that follows She Starts Things around like a shadow.

Because here is the thing. The starting was real. The enthusiasm was genuine. It was not fake excitement or impulsive distraction. There was something true in every single beginning. And then the energy moved on. And now there is a trail of unfinished things that the Miss Cranky Pants energy uses as evidence that something is fundamentally wrong.

Sometimes the people around you confirm it. You’re fickle. You can’t commit. You have no follow-through. You start everything and finish nothing.

None of that is true. But the voice of the Miss Cranky Pants energy is very convincing.

There is also a second version of this energy. The one where you’ve been so burned by this pattern that you are afraid to start anything new. The past beginnings that didn’t reach completion feel like failures. And the fear of repeating that pattern is now bigger than the excitement of the new possibility.

So you hold back. You hesitate. You talk yourself out of things before they begin, because at least then you cannot fail to finish them.

That’s the most contracted form of She Starts Things energy.

Not too many starts. No starts at all, because the guilt about the unfinished ones is too heavy to pick up and try again.

And underneath both versions is the same misunderstanding. A misunderstanding of what She Starts Things is really here to do.

In our next chat, we talk about what this energy looks like in everyday life when it’s working exactly the way it should.

I wouldn’t miss it. I hope you don’t!

Find your happy. Love what you do. Make a difference. Come back to me safely. See ya!
